Careers at BOWEN PHYSIOTHERAPY
Join a team that's doing something different — in a place you'll never want to leave.
Bowen Physiotherapy is a dynamic, fast-growing physiotherapy clinic in one of Queensland’s most beautiful coastal towns. Since establishing in 2019, the demand for physiotherapy in Bowen has been extraordinary — and we’ve grown to meet it.
We’re not just offering a job. We’re offering a career in a place where your work genuinely matters, where every day brings real clinical variety, and where the lifestyle outside the clinic is, frankly, hard to beat.

Why Work With Us?
- A practice built on quality and innovation We are committed to evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement. We invest in technology and AI-assisted clinical tools, and we hold ourselves to a high standard — because our patients deserve it.
- Extraordinary clinical variety As a rural generalist practice, our caseload ranges daily from simple musculoskeletal injuries through to complex, community-based neurological care, NDIS services, aged care, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, workplace health, and more. No two days are the same — and that’s what makes it so rewarding.
- Mentorship and genuine career development Our principal physiotherapist Alex Pyke has over 15 years of clinical experience and a passion for helping clinicians grow. Whether you’re a new graduate finding your feet or an experienced practitioner looking to deepen your expertise — you’ll have real support and real mentorship.
- A growing practice with purpose We established in Bowen in 2019 and have grown significantly since — including launching a weekly outreach clinic in Collinsville in 2026. We have big plans, and we want great people to grow with us.
- Our culture Our practice director is consultative and committed to building a collaborative team culture that recognises and develops the strengths of every staff member. Our internal policies and processes provide genuine opportunities for career expansion, training, and development. We work in an environment that is receptive and flexible — where staff have the opportunity to shape the standards and quality of care. Together we adapt, learn, communicate constructively, and respect each other.
- Flexible arrangements We offer full-time and part-time positions and are open to discussing arrangements that suit your life as well as ours.

About Bowen — You Need to Know This
This part is important. Working in a regional town is not for everyone — and we want to make sure you’re making this decision with your eyes wide open. Because the people who thrive here aren’t just good clinicians. They’re people who genuinely want to be here.
And once you see Bowen, most people do.
Situated at the top of the Whitsundays, Bowen is a coastal paradise with eight beautiful beaches, fringing coral reef, and tropical marine life right on your doorstep. It’s a haven for lovers of the outdoor lifestyle — sailing, fishing, hiking, snorkelling, camping, beach combing, and boating are all part of everyday life here.
Bowen has a population of around 10,000 people, with all major facilities and services — supermarkets, hospital, primary and high schools including private education, gyms, sporting clubs, dining, and a strong community culture. It’s a town that looks after its own.
And as a bonus, Bowen is a short drive to Airlie Beach — a popular tourist destination and the main departure point for Whitsunday Island and Great Barrier Reef cruises.
Getting here:
- Bowen is located 1,160 km north of Brisbane via the Bruce Highway
- Halfway between Mackay (192 km south) and Townsville (205 km north)
- Closest airport: Proserpine/Whitsunday Coast Airport — 1 hour away, with affordable direct flights to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne (often under $300 return)
- Mackay Airport: 2 hours away, more frequent flights
- Townsville Airport: 2.5 hours away, domestic and international flights
The lifestyle: Bowen has a warm tropical climate — winters average 22–23°C, summers average 30°C. It’s the kind of place where you finish work and head to the beach. Where the Sunday markets run from 7am at Hansen Park. Where you know your patients by name and your work genuinely shapes the health of your community.
